How To delete the auto complete history in start/search/For Files and Folders:

1. Click start/run and type in regedit.

2. Once regedit is opened navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Explorer Bars\{C4EE31F3-4768-11D2-BE5C-00A0C9A83DA1}\FilesNamed MRU.

3. On the right side you will see a list of strings. Delete everything in the list after default.

How To disable the auto complete history from appearing:

1. Close The files and folders window if you have it opened.

2. In internet explorer select tools/internet options/content tab/auto complete button / uncheck the "web addresses" box under the "use auto complete for" header. Click OK then OK to close the internet options box.

3. Navigate to start/search/find files and folders. When the window opens type in a letter and nothing should show if you followed the directions above.

Note: Disabling of the auto complete history also affects Internet Explorer. Following these instructions will stop it from appearing but it wont keep the information from being collected. Delete it on a regular basis.
